by Zico inso, i'd been invited to a jw 'friends' house this evening, but before i went, i went out with some work mates, something i've been doing a bit more of recently.
i told him i'd be home about 7.30 and for him to phone me after that time when he wants me to come round, so i get back about that time, popped onto jwd, whilst awaiting my phone call, got nothing, so i phoned him up a few minutes ago, and he told me that he'd discussed it with the others, and since i've been going out with worldly people so much, they want me to stop that association before they let me start associating with them again!
i'm really fucking angry here now!

It thought the U. Sov. issue was an issue that Rutherford harped on. The WT CD Library doesn't go any further back than 1950. That's the earliest I've found any reference to the "Issue of Unversal Sov." Here's the quote. I know you mention the focus was taken off of "Vindicating" his name and placed on the Universal Sov. issue in 1995, but it was discussed as far back as this. Not looking for an arguement, just thought it was understood long before 1995 though I do remember there was a shift in emphasis in 1985 or so when I came back from being inactive:

As a boy I loved Watching the World. There was always some ridiculous story of rats eating the rice on the ships docked in some third world country where it was sent by worldly charities. (Or whatever) I would always look for the Questions from Our Readers to see if there were any flashes of new light. I would look at the title of the study articles so I would know if they needed any attention before we studied it on Sunday. Other than that I looked at all the pretty pictures.

Blondie,
"Testament" is such a depressing movie. Whew! I'll never forget watching that and thinking, well that's about all you can say about that subject. "The Day After" was another ray of sunshine. At least with Jericho they will let the action and characters live long enough to make it a story of survival and not simply a slow death. It's done entertainingly enough. Some of us remember the constant hawking of the nuclear demise of the world by the superpowers. Now its all about the terrorists taking a bookbag sized nuke to the U.S.
Wait, did I say bookbag?
Run, everybody scatter!

P.S. Heroes is great fun if you haven't been watching that one. The pilot is on the net at NBC.com (or whatever network it is) and there is a comic, graphic novel, that you can look at that fills in the gaps of the show that you don't get to see on the program. I like it better than Jericho actually. Both are entertaining.

How to Stay Motivated....
by Tuesday ini'm just curious how some of the people who have left the orginization for years and years can continually keep up with all the happenings in the orginization?
i've been gone about 6 years now at most i go through phases of either wanting to know or not caring, usually it's like a week or two of interest followed by months of not caring at all.
i'm just curious how you all can do it?

When you've been so invested in this group of people, not simply the doctrine, its hard to let friends and family just trail off into the past. I have people I love in this trap and I wonder how they are. I, therefore, like to keep up on any scandals that may arise so that I am informed of the facts. I know they will never get them straight, but the folks here aren't caught up in the holy politics of dubdum.
I don't keep up a daily interest but I do look to see what's up here each day. It takes minutes and then I'm off. I'm not the most prolific poster here.
